Electrical Enclosures Introduction
In 2005 Superior Tray Systems Inc. acquired the designs and plans by Vancouver Electric Box Ltd. Since then we have incorporated electrical box and enclosure designs into our complete product line.
Standard enclosures are built in accordance to NEMA safety standards and hold many certifications from both the Canadian Standards Association as well as the Underwriters Laboratories. These enclosures are available in aluminum, stainless, or galvanized steel. We are ready to fabricate any custom designs as well. We produce NEMA 1 and 3 enclosures, designed for uses such as:
- Electrical junction
- Instrumentation
- Pneumatic / hydraulic control housing
- Tap and splitter boxes
- Metering cabinets
- Other industrial applications
NEMA 1 - Indoor Locations
Generally NEMA 1 enclosures are used as indoor junction, pull, switch or general servive boxes. NEMA Type 1 electrical enclosures are defined by NEMA (the National Electrical Manufacturers Association) as enclosures contstructed for indoor use to provide a degree of protection to personel against access to hazardous parts and to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt).
NEMA 3 - Outdoor Locations
Generally NEMA 3 Enclosures are used as outdoor or indoor junction, splitter, metering or pull boxes. NEMA Type 3 Electrical Enclosures are defined by NEMA (the National Electrical Manufacturers Association) as enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts; to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt and windblown dust); to provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow); and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure.
