Superior Tray offers a wide variety of covers for Cable Tray Systems that provides the
cables contained within the system protection from sunlight, environmental elements, dirt,
debris, and falling objects. All of the covers listed here are used for both indoor and
outdoor Cable Tray Applications. Covers are fabricated from corrosion resistant aluminum,
mill-galvanized steel, and 304 or 316 stainless steel. Although not recommended, covers
can be supplied in HDGAF steel on request (some distortion may occur when dipping).
Most covers for Superior Cable Tray Systems are supplied in standard 10 ft lengths
and are available in 5 ft lengths upon request.

TYPES OF CABLE TRAY COVERS
FLAT AND FLAT FLANGED
Flat covers are economical and available for all straight sections and fittings.
These covers are available flat without flanges or flat with 3/8 inch flanges for
Ladder Cable Tray and Hefty Cable Tray. Flat flanged covers should be used on all
4 inch and 6 inch wide Cable Tray Channel applications requiring covers.
PEAKED
Peaked covers are generally used to deflect falling objects or to prevent the accumulation
of snow or other debris. Standard peak height is 1/2 inch. However, higher peaks are
available upon request.
Peaked covers are not available for fittings.
HAT-SHAPED
Hat-shaped covers are designed to protect installations where the cables extend above the upper
flanges of the tray. Hat-shaped covers are available with a flat solid top as well as ventilated
top and are in 2 inch or 4 inch height.
LOUVERED
Louvered covers are available for all straight sections and are available as Flat, Flat Flanged,
or Hat Shaped.
VENTILATED
Ventilated covers are rigid, lightweight and will readily form to vertical fittings, with the
exception of Hefty Tray style. These ventilated covers can be flat sheet type, hat shaped type
or hefty tray style. All covers for horizontal fittings are made of non-ventilated (solid) flat
sheets without a flange.
COVER FASTENERS
A complete line of cable tray cover fasteners is available for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Local conditions will dictate the selection of the proper fastening device. Cover
fasteners must be ordered separately for the application and spacing desired.
Both clips and clamps are used indoors, but only clamps are used for outdoor
applications. Standard quantities of clips and clamps used for most conditions
are given below:
Clip Style:
• 6 per 10 ft of straight cover.
• 4 minimum per horizontal or vertical 90° fitting.
• 6 per Tee fitting.
• 8 per Cross fitting.
Bar Clamp Style:
• 3 per 10 ft straight cover.
• 2 min. per horizontal or vertical 90° fitting.
• 3 per Tee fitting.
• 4 per Cross fitting.
HOLD DOWN CLAMPS FOR CABLE TRAY
These heavy duty cover fasteners are used for covers installed in high wind areas.
They are furnished with necessary hardware. Clamps are not recommended for hat-shaped
covers.
COVER CLIPS FOR HEFTY CABLE TRAY
This cover clip is designed to fasten the Hefty Tray covers. Each clip is mill
galvanized steel and furnished with a thumb screw to facilitate inverted installation
on flanged covers.
COVER CLIPS FOR LADDER CABLE TRAY
These clips fasten the tray covers to Ladder Tray.
